Kuehne+Nagel strengthens road freight links between Turkey and Europe
Kuehne+Nagel has launched four new direct road connections between Turkey and Europe, aimed at improving trade flow efficiency and reducing transit times. The new routes, which operate with multiple weekly departures, rely on strategic hubs in Austria, Germany and France. The move responds to growing demand for reliable logistics services and reflects Turkey’s increasing importance as an EU trading partner. The service is fully integrated with the myKN digital platform, allowing customers to manage shipments independently and track them in real time.
Salerno Container Terminal invests over €10 million in equipment
Salerno Container Terminal has invested more than ten million euros in the first months of the year to upgrade its fleet of machinery. Among the key purchases is a large electric Gottwald crane from Konecranes, capable of handling vessels of up to 15,000 TEU, which joins the four Liebherr cranes already in operation. A new extra-large electric Liebherr RTG has also been ordered, due to arrive in October 2025, to speed up container handling for imports. By the end of April, refurbishment works on the Tre Gennaio quay will be completed, with operations temporarily moved to the west side of the Trapezio dock.

First Gemini vessel calls at Koper, bypasses Trieste
The Maersk Campbell has called at Koper, becoming the first container ship of the new Gemini service—a joint initiative between Maersk and Hapag Lloyd. Arriving from Malaysia, the vessel is part of the SE1 route connecting Asia and the Mediterranean, and Koper was selected as the first Adriatic port of call. The exclusion of Trieste from the Northern Adriatic rotation has been confirmed, in favour of Koper and Rijeka, where a new container terminal is under construction by AP Moeller Maersk. Trieste and Venice will be served by a feeder link departing from Port Said, Egypt.

Daimler Truck launches TruckCharge for electric lorries
In a move to accelerate the transition to zero-emission road transport, Daimler Truck has unveiled its TruckCharge initiative, a semi-public charging network for electric lorries. The aim is to install over 3,000 high-power charging points across Europe by 2030, up from fewer than 1,000 currently available. The system will enable TruckCharge customers to share underused infrastructure and make it available to others for a fee. The launch is scheduled for the third quarter of 2025. The project will complement the Milence public network, developed in partnership with Traton and Volvo, which targets 1,700 charging points by 2027.
Abb and Cma Cgm team up to prevent parametric rolling at sea
Abb and French shipping giant Cma Cgm have developed a new algorithm to enhance maritime safety, integrating it into the Abb Ability Octopus system. The technology is based on a theoretical model created by Cma Cgm and aims to prevent parametric rolling—a dangerous phenomenon that affects container ships, ropax vessels and car carriers, posing serious risks to vessels, cargo and crew. The new algorithm will help detect and mitigate the risk of such extreme movements. Cma Cgm will implement the solution across its global fleet and provide training courses to other industry operators.
