Mercedes-Benz trials hydrogen trucks in Switzerland
Daimler Truck has completed its first winter trials of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz GenH2 fuel cell trucks. Two vehicles were tested under extreme conditions at the Simplon Pass in Switzerland, covering 6,500 kilometres with a gross weight of 40 tonnes and tackling gradients of up to 12 per cent. The trials focused on the integrated performance of all key components, including the fuel cell, battery, e-axle and thermal management system. The project forms part of a European initiative allocating €226 million to develop 100 hydrogen-powered trucks. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin by the end of 2026.

Qatar Airways Cargo launches TechLift for semiconductor transport
Qatar Airways Cargo has unveiled TechLift, a new service dedicated to the air transport of semiconductors and high-tech components. The solution is designed to provide maximum protection and precision for the transport of integrated circuits, chips, production equipment and sensitive chemicals. TechLift includes priority loading, continuous monitoring, temperature fluctuation protection and specialised handling. The product can be integrated with additional solutions such as Q-Climate, Q-Plus and Q-Prime. The initiative responds to growing global demand for semiconductors across electronics, AI, automotive and telecommunications sectors.
WestJet Cargo to handle Virgin Atlantic cargo on Toronto–London route
From 31 March, WestJet Cargo will begin selling the cargo capacity of Virgin Atlantic flights from Toronto to London Heathrow and beyond, under an annual commercial agreement. The partnership strengthens connections between Canada and multiple destinations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Virgin Atlantic thus returns to the Canadian cargo market after more than two decades, relying on WestJet’s operational expertise. The flights will offer up to 20 tonnes of daily capacity, with shipments managed under WestJet’s Air Waybill.
Aegean appoints Mondial Airline Services for cargo operations in Germany
Mondial Airline Services has been named General Sales Agent for Aegean’s cargo operations in Germany. The agreement, effective from 19 February 2025, covers 80 weekly flights to Greece, including daily services from several German cities to Athens and Thessaloniki. Customers will have access to more than 80 international destinations, including Tel Aviv, Malta and Tirana. The partnership aims to optimise the Greek carrier’s cargo capacity, enhancing efficiency through the digital tools provided by Global GSA Group, Mondial’s parent company.
