In Rimini – among the highlights of the 2024 Ecomondo Fair dedicated to sustainability – the Italian company Piaggio unveiled the Porter Npe, a compact fully electric commercial vehicle developed to efficiently address urban logistics needs by combining compactness, agility, and impressive load capacity. It features an integrated electric drive unit with motor, inverter, and transmission in a compact system, delivering 150 kW of power and 330 Nm of torque. The vehicle offers a top speed of 90 km/h and a range exceeding 250 kilometers thanks to its 42 kWh battery. Charging times are optimized for professional use: in fast-charge mode, it can go from 20% to 70% charge in just thirty minutes, while a full charge requires about four hours.
The Porter Npe is available in two wheelbase options (2,650 mm and 3,070 mm) and comes in four colors: Opal Blue, Marble White, Amber Orange, and Jade Green. In terms of safety, the new Piaggio integrates advanced driver assistance systems, including lane-keeping, speed detection, and parking assistance. Additionally, it features a driver fatigue warning and an acoustic alert for pedestrians.
Piaggio also launched eco-friendly bi-fuel thermal versions of the Porter, powered by gasoline/methane and gasoline/LPG, sharing many of the advanced features of the electric model. The company’s commercial strategy has already shown results: as of September 30, 2024, commercial vehicle sales reached 89,700 units, generating a net revenue of €296.6 million. Despite global economic challenges leading to a 9.4% decrease from 2023, Piaggio achieved its highest EBITDA margin in history, with substantial growth in the Americas, where revenue increased by 38% and volumes by 49.8%.
