Polo Logistica FS is enhancing its rolling stock with an order to Alstom for seventy Traxx Universal locomotives. The contract, which includes comprehensive maintenance services for twelve years, is valued at €323 million. Additionally, there is an option to purchase thirty more locomotives. All units will be manufactured at Alstom's plant in Vado Ligure, in the province of Savona, with maintenance services guaranteed nationwide. The first deliveries are scheduled for 2025.
Alstom's technicians are already engaged in the maintenance of over two hundred Traxx Universal locomotives, distributed across five strategic depots throughout Italy. With this new contract, the total number of locomotives under maintenance will exceed three hundred units, necessitating further expansion of this team. A local hub, specialized in digital maintenance, plays a crucial role in this activity by acquiring real-time data from the locomotives, allowing constant monitoring of their conditions. This technology facilitates the scheduling of maintenance interventions, both in the main depots and in over ten minor sites distributed across Italy.
