In January 2024, Raben Group's Italian branch will change its name from Raben Sittam to Raben Italy. The company states that "this change is not a revolution but an evolution, a step forward in the growth of the Italian business unit, further integrating it with Raben Group's other business units. This is a tangible sign of the extensive investment project that Raben Group's CEO, Ewald Raben, has been implementing in Italy for several years, demonstrating his strong commitment to consolidating the Group's strategic presence in Italy."
Consequently, after sixty years, the Sittam brand exits the scene. Sittam was founded in Bolzano in 1960 by Albano Zanella and Siegfried Kompatscher for international transport with Austria and Germany. In the 1970s, the company moved to Milan and later expanded its activities to include sea and air freight.
Raben Group entered Sittam in 2017, acquiring 20% of the capital, and took control in May 2019 with a 51% stake. In 2023, Raben reorganized its European network, promoting six platforms in Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic to Eurohub status. The German hub in Aichach covers Italy, along with Austria, Poland, and the Czech Republic (whose hub manages Southeastern Europe).
Janusz Aniol, Italy Regional Director of Raben Italy, adds that this is "effectively an enhancement of the Italian business unit. The strength of Raben Italy lies in the perfect combination of Raben Group's international experience and Sittam's Italian entrepreneurial spirit. Our goals remain ambitious, but we are aware of having everything necessary to face future challenges, continue to grow, and consolidate our leadership position in Italy."
