On Monday, May 13, 2024, an intensive week of roadside inspections for commercial vehicles and buses will commence across Europe, under the coordination of the Roadpol Traffic Police network. The campaign is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, May 19. This week represents the second of three annual inspection drives, the first of which took place from February 19 to 25, and the third scheduled for November 11 to 17. The upcoming inspections will be conducted in collaboration with the European Labour Authority.
During these inspections, traffic police officers will stop commercial vehicles and buses to check various elements that influence road safety. These include the technical conditions of the vehicles, dimensions and weight, driver's licensing, compliance with European driving times, possible tampering with the tachograph, load securing, and transport documents. In the February inspection week, patrols stopped 248,498 trucks and 130,519 buses, discovering a violation rate of 34% in commercial vehicles.
