Scania Logistics Netherlands has announced the start of construction on a logistics platform in the Hessenpoort industrial area of Zwolle, the Netherlands. The facility, spanning around 21,500 square metres, marks a significant expansion of the company’s global logistics network. The site will feature sixteen loading bays, four ground-level access doors, and 37 parking spaces for industrial vehicles. This expansion is essential to support the increase in imports, particularly following the opening of Scania’s new manufacturing plant in China. The building is designed to achieve Breeam Excellent and Gpr 8.0 environmental certifications.
Scania Logistics Netherlands, responsible for managing the global logistics flows of all Scania components, employs approximately 750 people and currently operates 84,500 square metres of logistics centres. The expansion with the new Hessenpoort warehouse complements the addition of a further 10,000 square metres of storage space at Gasthuisdijk, reflecting the company’s commitment to strengthening its continental and intercontinental logistics network. René Brill, Managing Director of Scania Logistics Netherlands, emphasised the strategic importance of the investment: "We are creating efficient, connected and sustainable logistics flows within a global network. The need for additional space is crucial to expanding our operations and developing forward-looking logistics solutions."
