On July 30, 2024, German company sennder Technologies announced its acquisition of the European ground transportation operations of C.H. Robinson Worldwide. This acquisition marks a significant milestone for sennder, as it combines the extensive experience of C.H. Robinson's team with sennder's technological capabilities. The deal will integrate over 6,500 shippers and more than 15,000 carriers into sennder's network, further expanding the company's geographic and operational reach.
Through this acquisition, sennder aims to enhance its service offerings and digital capabilities, providing C.H. Robinson's customers with access to its proprietary platform, sennOS. This advanced system will enable optimized load management, reduce empty miles, and improve overall operational efficiency. Specifically, transporters will benefit from increased utilization of industrial vehicles, faster payments, and reduced administrative burdens, while shippers will gain full visibility into their transportation operations.
The transaction, subject to the completion of corporate structuring and mandatory consultations with employees, is expected to close by the fourth quarter of 2024. Sennder was advised by Evercore for financial matters and by Taylor Wessing for legal counsel. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. Once completed, this acquisition will establish a full truckload operator employing 1,700 people and generating 1.4 billion euros in revenue.
David Nothacker, CEO of sennder, stated that "this acquisition is crucial for advancing sennder's roadmap. C.H. Robinson shares our mission and values, aiming to create an efficient and sustainable road transport network in Europe. With our sennOS technology and the network density this acquisition provides, we are poised to scale our operations and further expand our presence in Europe."
C.H. Robinson was founded in 1905 by Charles Henry Robinson as a wholesale fresh produce brokerage in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
