Successful sea trials for Gnv Polaris
The Gnv Polaris, the first of four new ro-pax vessels being built at the Chinese Guangzhou Shipyard International, has successfully completed its sea trials. With a gross tonnage of 47,000 tons and a capacity for 1,500 passengers, the ship is set to be delivered by the end of the year. Lufthansa interested in Tap
Lufthansa is aiming to acquire a 19.9% stake in Tap Air Portugal as part of the privatization process of the state-owned Portuguese airline, according to reports from Corriere della Sera. The deal, which could be finalized in the first quarter of 2025, is estimated to be worth between €180 and €200 million. Neither Lufthansa nor the Portuguese government have made official comments. Air France-KLM and IAG, the parent company of British Airways and Iberia, have also shown interest in Tap, attracted by its strong connections with Brazil.
Opec+ raises oil prices
Opec+ has decided to suspend the planned increase in oil production for two months, following a price drop caused by weak demand and ample supply. The coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and Russia, halted the planned increase of 180,000 barrels per day for October 2024, resulting in a 1% rise in oil prices. This decision follows disappointing economic data from China and the United States, the world's largest consumers, which had pushed oil prices below $73 per barrel, the lowest level since 2023.
Msc acquires Il Secolo XIX
The newspaper Il Secolo XIX has officially come under the management of Blue Media, part of the Msc Group, following an agreement with Gedi. The decisive meeting took place in Rome at the Fieg headquarters, with the participation of Fnsi and the Ligurian Journalists Association. Brambilla will be appointed as the head of the editorial office. Blue Media will also take over other Gedi publications, including The MediTelegraph, L’Avvisatore Marittimo, Giornale del Ponente Ligure, and Automazione Navale Tecnologie per il Mare & Trasporti.
