On July 11, 2024, Sogedim, a company specializing in temperature-controlled logistics, announced the inauguration of a large refrigerated warehouse in Corbetta, a municipality situated north-west of Milan, near highway junctions and Malpensa Airport. The inauguration is set for August 1, following the completion of both external and internal infrastructure, and the development of IT technologies necessary for order management, shipment preparation, and automated tracking.
The warehouse features over 20,000 covered pallet spaces and is divided by activities and sectors, supporting both positive and negative temperature storage. The dedicated cross-docking area facilitates international shipments via refrigerated vehicles, ensuring the quick delivery of temperature-controlled goods across Europe and the world. An expert team manages European routes, assisting clients with import-export documentation.
The facility complies with EC regulation 853/2004 for non-EU shipments of products requiring a health certificate and holds Haccp certification for organic food handling. Designed for VAT storage, the warehouse handles customs, tax, and excise procedures related to the transportation of wines and spirits within Italy, as well as import and export operations from any country, both within and outside the EU. Equipped with solar panels, it represents a cutting-edge hub from an energy and environmental perspective.
The new warehouse is equipped with advanced IT tools that simplify and optimize the cold chain, from tracking to scheduling, booking, and reporting. With 250 cameras and a perimeter system, every corner of the warehouse is monitored, ensuring 360° total security.
Founded in 1984, Sogedim has consolidated its position in the cold logistics market, operating in Italy, Europe, and worldwide for the transportation of perishable goods. The acquisition of DB Schenker Italy's food transport division marked a significant turning point, enabling the company to expand its network and continuously improve its services.
