Following Valencia, it was Barcelona's turn to be hit by the storm, with an immediate impact on transportation. Intense rainfall forced the Catalan city’s port to suspend its operational activities. Specifically, container terminals operated by APM and Hutchison Ports BEST had to completely halt operations. Barcelona El Prat Airport was also closed, and the road connecting it to the city was flooded and impassable.
Meanwhile, in Valencia, efforts continue to clear water and mud as authorities search for hundreds of missing persons. Some sections of roads and highways in the Valencia Community remain closed, including those leading to the city. Much of the local railway network is still inaccessible. While the port has reopened, its activities are proceeding at a reduced pace. Container terminals MSCT, CSP, and ATM, along with Grimaldi's terminal, remain operational. The primary challenges involve ground connections between docks and the inland areas, as well as the movement of port workers.
