On July 12, 2024, Maersk Air Cargo received the first of two B777F aircraft ordered from Boeing in November 2021, marking a milestone as it is also the Danish company's first 777F. The second unit is scheduled to arrive in September 2024. With these two aircraft, Maersk Air Cargo aims to enhance routes between Europe and China, initially operating with three weekly flights, which will gradually increase to six weekly flights.
The company currently operates twenty B767F aircraft, and the new model offers more cargo space in the hold, shorter travel times, and faster ground handling. "The B777F can carry more than double the payload per flight compared to our 767Fs and is the most fuel-efficient aircraft in the world thanks to its GE90 engines," said Lars Jordahn, Head of Maersk Air Cargo.
For its B777F aircraft, the Danish company has chosen the GE90 engines, which are the most powerful available. The aircraft has a range of 9,200 kilometers and can carry a payload of 102 tons. The main deck can accommodate pallets up to three meters high, and all cargo decks are temperature-controlled. In addition to its own fleet, Maersk continues to utilize space on commercial flights of other airlines. Through the Maersk.com booking system, customers can select and book over 70,000 routes to airports in ninety countries.
