On July 11, 2024, the Campanian transport and logistics company Torello announced the opening of a logistics platform in Udine. This facility will serve the entire Friuli Venezia-Giulia region, enhancing distribution activities in Northeast Italy, as well as international routes. The facility spans 15,000 square meters and is strategically located near the borders of Slovenia (20 kilometers away) and Austria (45 kilometers away). This strategic position is crucial for international transport, situated at the intersection of major European routes: the Mediterranean Corridor (east-west) and the Via Iulia Augusta, part of the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor (north-south).
The new Torello platform is designed to offer a wide range of transport and logistics services: full load national and international transport, last-mile distribution of food products (integrating into the Italian Food Distribution network), and storage and handling of dry and temperature-controlled goods. The facility includes a 1,500-square-meter dry warehouse, a 1,500-square-meter temperature-controlled warehouse divided into areas for handling products at 0/+4°C and +15/+18°C, and 150 square meters of office space.
"We have been considering for a long time the possibility of establishing a presence in this important yet logistically challenging region," explains Umberto Torello, COO of the company. "It may seem paradoxical, but it is precisely the concept of logistical discomfort that drove us to open our own direct territorial presence. For a long time, we sought commercial partners in this area, but we couldn't find the right interlocutor who could maintain our standards. So, we rolled up our sleeves, and here we are, in Udine."
