On October 24, 2024, Helrom will launch a new rail connection between Regensburg and Verona, passing through the Brenner Pass, marking its first entry on this critical European route. The new 560-kilometer connection will offer four weekly departures in both directions for hauliers and freight forwarders, with plans to further increase frequency starting in 2025. The trains will transport semi-trailers, including non-cranable ones.
The new service coincides with upcoming construction work on the Lueg Bridge on the Austrian side of the Brenner route, set to begin in January 2025. "With the new connection through the Brenner Pass, we are opening new opportunities for freight transport, contributing to CO₂ emission reductions and alleviating pressure on road infrastructure," said Roman Noack, founder and CEO of Helrom. "Our terminal-free technology for barrier-free intermodal transport allows shippers and hauliers to start using rail without any additional investments."
