The German railway company TX Logistik, part of the Italian State Railways Group, kicked off 2024 by boosting two significant intermodal rail links between Lübeck and the terminals in Milano Segrate and Verona Quadrante Europa. Specifically, the service from Milano Segrate was increased from four to six weekly trips, while the Verona route saw a doubling of its weekly trips from one to two. These multi-client trains carry containers, including tank containers and semi-trailers, including those not craneable that are compatible with the NiKRASA system.
The Lübeck-Milano connection operates with departures from Segrate on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and from the Brg terminal in the German city on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. The Lübeck-Verona line departs from the Italian interport on Saturday and Thursday, and from the German city's Ctl terminal on Tuesday and Saturday. The trains travel along the Brenner axis, covering the distance in approximately 24 hours.
Moreover, since mid-January, TX Logistik launched new connections between Wilhelmshaven and Southern Germany. Trains depart from the Jade-Weser Wilhelmshaven port to reach the internal Tricon terminal in Nuremberg and the Duss Kombiterminal in Kornwestheim, serving as a hub for the Stuttgart/Ludwigsburg region. Both routes are operated as direct connections and offered through the boxXpress platform, with a weekly frequency.
The Jade-Weser port in Germany boasts the country's deepest waters, making it a destination for large container ships. Currently, it is regularly serviced by eight shipping lines. Building on this development, TX Logistik announced plans to add more rail connections between Wilhelmshaven and inland terminals in the first half of this year.
