Vietnam Airlines is implementing an extensive program to enlarge its fleet and network. Currently, it operates 97 aircraft, including A321s, A350s, B787s, and ATR72s. Between 2025 and 2030, the airline plans to purchase or lease up to fifty single-aisle Airbus aircraft or, alternatively, E190s to serve smaller airports.
Regarding its network, the company has recently announced new routes to India, intentions to expand into Australia, and a codeshare collaboration with Turkish Airlines. The expansion program also includes Italy: Vietnam Airlines has announced that from July 1, 2025, it will launch a direct flight between Malpensa and Hanoi. The connection will be thrice weekly and operated with a B787-9, which will also offer belly cargo space.
In cargo transportation, the Vietnamese company operates through its division Vietnam Airlines Cargo, which transported 213,800 tons in 2022 (the latest available data). The agreement with Turkish Airlines also includes cargo collaboration, with the possibility of forming a joint venture in the future. In addition to air transport, the company offers road services to destinations (including European ones) not served by its aircraft. Within Vietnam, it also operates an express transport service between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
